Own virtualization engine

GridForge features

Every feature listed here is built and tested today. Community ships 30 November 2026; Pro goes on sale 31 December 2026.

Editing

Editing and selection

The editing, selection and interaction primitives that make GridForge feel like a native spreadsheet. Fill handle comes with Pro.

Inline editing
Edit cells in place with text, date, time and checkbox editors, or render your own cells. You choose what starts an edit: double-click, Enter or typing. Escape cancels.
Keyboard navigation
Arrow keys, Tab and Enter move through the grid with managed focus, the way spreadsheet users expect.
Cell & range selection
Click a cell to select it. Pro adds range selection, by dragging or with Shift.
Single and multi row selection
Select one row at a time, or several with a checkbox column.
Pro
Fill handle
Pro adds a fill handle. Drag the corner of a selected range to repeat its values across the cells you drag over.
Validation
Attach validators per column or for the whole grid. Errors show while typing, and invalid values are not committed. Row validators come with Pro.
Changed cell tracking
Edited cells are marked and highlighted, so users can see what they changed. Undo clears the mark.
Undo and redo
Undo and redo edits with Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z (Cmd on Mac).
Clipboard

Clipboard and actions

Copy cells as text, and use a right-click menu. Paste, cut and the right-click menu come with Pro.

Clipboard support
Copy cells as tab-separated text that pastes straight into Excel and Google Sheets. Pro adds paste and cut.
Pro
Right-click menu
Pro adds a right-click menu on cells with Cut, Copy and Paste. Choose which items it shows for each grid.
Data

Working with data

Sort and filter, format values and see totals at a glance. Most of it is in Community; advanced filtering comes with Pro.

Sorting and filtering
Click a header to sort, Shift+click to sort by more columns. Search every column at once, or filter each column from its header. Pro adds 15 filter conditions you can combine with AND/OR.
Formatting
Number, currency, percent, date and time formats, with text wrapping and alignment per column. The same format is used on screen, when copying and in exports.
Status bar
Shows the row count, how many rows or cells are selected, and whether a filter is on.
Performance

Built for large datasets

GridForge's own virtualization engine keeps the grid responsive with many rows and columns.

Our own virtualization engine
GridForge's own engine renders only the rows and columns on screen, plus a small buffer. It switches on by itself once a grid has more than 50 rows.
Long and wide grids
Rows and columns are virtualized independently, so a grid with many rows, many columns or both keeps the number of rendered cells small.
Look and feel

Fits your app

Column layout, resizing, pinned columns and themes. All of it is in Community except 6 more themes, which come with Pro.

Column layout
Choose how columns use the grid's width: fit their content, fill the last column, fill all columns, or fill one column you pick.
Resize, autosize and reorder
Drag a column edge to resize it, double-click the edge to fit the column to its content, and drag a header to move the column.
Pinned columns
Pin columns to the left or right edge of the grid so they remain visible while scrolling horizontally. Configurable per column via the API.
Built-in themes
6 built-in themes, light and dark. Pro adds 6 more.
Density and colors
Pick compact, standard or comfortable spacing on any theme, or set your own colors with theme tokens.
Theme builder
Turn one brand color into a complete theme, light or dark, with buildTheme.
Export

Get data out of the grid

Export to the format your users need. CSV export is free in Community. Excel and PDF export come with Pro.

Community
CSV export
Export grid data to CSV with column headers. Special characters and multi-line values are escaped correctly.
Pro
Excel & PDF export
Export to XLSX with number formats, column widths and sheet names. PDF export generates print-ready documents with headers and page breaks.
Analysis

Analyze data in the grid

Conditional formatting, formulas and column totals. Available on Pro.

Pro
Conditional formatting
Color cells or rows by rules, using the same 15 conditions as the filters. Add Excel-style color scales, data bars and icons.
Pro
Formulas
Type =SUM(A1:A10) in a cell. Formulas support arithmetic and SUM, AVERAGE, MIN and MAX over cells and ranges.
Pro
Aggregation
Show the sum, average, count, minimum and maximum of a column in the status bar. Totals follow the active filter.
Build with it

Build with it

Accessibility, plugins and a typed API that stays out of your way. Plugins come with Pro.

Accessibility
Follows the ARIA grid pattern. Screen readers announce sorting, filtering, selection and edits, and keyboard focus is always visible. Built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
Pro
Plugin system
Register plugins with init and destroy lifecycle hooks, and package your own grid behaviors as reusable modules.
TypeScript-first
Every API surface is fully typed. Column definitions, cell values, event handlers, and plugin interfaces all benefit from autocompletion and compile-time safety.
Familiar TanStack Table contracts
Column definitions and sorting functions follow TanStack Table, so teams coming from TanStack move over easily. Rendering, virtualization and editing are GridForge's own.
Clean, minimal API
A small surface area with sensible defaults. Define your columns, pass your data, and the grid works. Override only what you need without fighting boilerplate.
Roadmap

What we are working on

  1. Now

Fixing bugs and finishing Community. Ships 30 November 2026.

  2. Next

Pro goes on sale 31 December 2026.

See what it costs

Community is free under MIT. The Pro features come with a perpetual Pro license, priced per application. The pricing page compares the two, row by row.
